Julie was called to the British Columbia bar in 1996, after obtaining her BA in Psychology (1991) and Bachelor of Laws (1995) from the University of Victoria. She has practiced personal injury law, disability law, insurance law, and general litigation in the Lower Mainland since then, spending fifteen years at the Vancouver firm of Watson Goepel Maledy LLP before starting Lawyers West LLP in Coquitlam in 2010. She joined DBM as Associate Counsel in October 2017.
Julie's years of legal experience span Long Term Disability insurance claims, CPP Disability Appeals, Life and other insurance benefit claims, motor vehicle and personal injury claims, defective construction, product failure, nuisance, insurance claims and general litigation matters. She has particular focus on providing clients with cost-effective solutions and accurate budgets as part of achieving a resolution to their disputes. She has resolved hundreds of matters for her clients, whether that required litigation, settlement, negotiation, or mediation.
Along with her dedication to getting results and providing clients efficient and effective service, Julie brings to DBM her drive to educate the public on their legal rights and a commitment to her community. Julie is currently a Trustee of the Coquitlam Public Library, a member of the Coquitlam Foundation Policy, Events, and Fund Development Committees, and a member of the CBA BC Women Lawyers Forum, among many other community roles.
Julie has lived in Coquitlam since 2001 with her husband, son and Wheaten Terrier, and enjoys hiking the various trails each weekend.
