A Traveler’s Nightmare: DBM Holds an Insurance Company Accountable

Our client was severely injured while travelling in the United States.  Despite having travel insurance at the time of her injury, the insurer refused to cover her medical costs and extended stay. Faced with the prospect of having to pay over US$50,000 in medical fees, our client sought the help of DBM Law.  Our experienced litigation team, led by Chris Bacon, commenced a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, stating that the insurance company failed to act in good faith when dealing with the client’s insurance claim.

Soon after the Notice of Civil Claim was filed, the Daily Hive, an online news source, wrote an article about our client and the egregious actions of the insurance company.  Soon after the article was published, the insurer agreed to pay the client’s medical costs and her legal fees.  Our client is happy with the outcome after enduring months of stress and uncertainty.
