Joe obtained a BA (Honours) degree in Psychology in 1978 from the University of Manitoba, following which he moved to Vancouver, where he obtained his law degree from the University of British Columbia. Joe was called to the Bar in 1983. Joe has practiced in the TriCities area ever since. On September 1, 2003, he started a new law firm and partnership with Christopher Bacon, known as Drysdale Bacon McStravick LLP.
For his entire career, Joe has focused on protecting the legal rights of personal injury victims. If you are injured and are wondering what happens next, call DBM to meet Joe in person for a no-obligation introductory meeting.
Joe has also represented spouses and children for a variation of the provisions of a will when a spouse or child has felt that the will did not adequately provide for them.
Dzaferovic v. Gupta - This case involved issues arising out of an accident in which the plaintiff driver hit the defendant while the defendant was driving haphazardly through an intersection. Joe and co-counsel successfully argued that the defendant was 100 percent responsible for the injuries to the plaintiff.
Jackson v. Jeffries, - This was a personal injury claim arising from a car accident. The defence argued the Plaintiff was partially responsible for his own injuries because he was not wearing a seatbelt. Joe defended against shared liability by successfully arguing that ICBC failed to prove that the lack of a seatbelt in this instance was the reason for the injury.
McPherson v. Lange, - This lawsuit arose from a car accident in which Lange, who was turning left through a controlled intersection on a yellow light, was struck by McPherson, who was proceeding through the intersection. The case addressed the tension that exists between the obligations of a left turning driver and a through driver and how fault is allocated between the two.
From my first meeting with Joe McStravick, and throughout the whole process, I was made to feel well looked after. Joe and Joanne reassured me that DBM would deal with all the details so I could focus on recovering and getting healthy. Any questions or concerns I had were always dealt with promptly and compassionately. In the end I was very happy with the settlement DBM negotiated for me and would not hesitate to recommend the DBM Law team to anyone needing legal services.
I am thankful to Joseph McStravick and his team in helping me to deal with ICBC. They are professional and pleasant to deal with. My settlement exceeded my expectation.
Joe was recommended to me after I was in an MVA. I felt well taken care of, all my questions were answered and he achieved a very successful outcome. Look no further.
I had a positive experience with my ICBC claim, as it was handled in a very professional manner by Joe McStravick and Joanne, his paralegal. I would highly recommend their services!
I feel very grateful to have been represented by Joe McStravick. I was in a bad MVA and appreciated having the fluidity from emails to phone calls and the personal attention I got from Joe and his assistant Joanne Coglon, Paralegel. Joe was professional, kept me informed every step of the way and Joanne was so kind and personable. Thank you guys for all of your help.
