Michael Thain was called to the British Columbia bar in 2015. He articled and practiced for several years at a boutique criminal defence and driving law firm in Vancouver.
With a focus on Criminal Defence work, Michael also assists clients with a variety of other legal problems: from family law and ICBC issues to driving prohibitions. He has appeared in both Provincial and Supreme Court.
Michael has a high success rate defending clients charged with offences such as driving while prohibited, impaired driving, assault and fraud. He takes the same advocacy skills to obtain excellent results for his clients in civil litigation files.
Michael has a Bachelors degree in Criminology from Simon Fraser University and obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Victoria.
Prior to practising law, Michael worked for the Canada Border Services Agency enforcing customs and immigration legislation. He brings significant knowledge of those areas of law to his practice. Michael volunteers with the Innocence Project Canada and Access Pro Bono. He is a committee member at the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia and is also a member of the Criminal Defence Advocacy Society.
In his spare time, Michael enjoys being outdoors skiing, paddle boarding, fishing or sailing.
